Sunday was just amazing. It was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. I felt like there was so much joy and love in my heart that it might explode. The support and the responses that I have been getting from everyone has been overwhelming and amazing. Thank you for helping me our troops!
All day yesterday my article was the most viewed on pasadenastarnews.com. It was so great! I am such a nerd I took a screenshot of it. I also logged into my yahoo mail and saw a link to the article in my local news. After I got out of work, my mom and I scoured the streets of Colorado Boulevard to get more copies of the newspaper.
I randomly went to my school’s website to check on something and found they had put a link to this website and the article. That definitely made me feel really good. I don’t know who brought it to their attention, but thank you whoever that was!
Today, I got a large donation from Joel Phillips. He is the father of my late friend Andrew Phillips whom this project is dedicated to. Â Andy was not in the armed forces just a wonderful, loyal friend of mine who I miss more and more with each passing day. I know he would be proud of me. Anyhow, Joel sent me $125.00 through paypal, which will enable me to send 10 more boxes overseas. I was deeply touched by this.
I also want to mention Quang Tran who I had the pleasure of meeting this Sunday morning while I was at work. He is someone who read the Pasadena Star News article online and sent me an email asking how he could get me the money. His kind donation will help send another 8 boxes overseas. I asked him if It would be alright if I gave him a hug after he gave me the check, and he let me.
I want to say a special thank you to Lynell Woodward who works with my godmother Sandra. She donated a huge box of notepads and pens for us to put in the care packages.
I just want to re-iterate that anything helps. If everyone helps a little, then we can help a lot of people. I know times are tough right now. Please know that even if you just donate a dollar you are still contributing. If you cannot financially give and have something material you want to donate please do not hesitate to contact me. I had someone offer to donate some anti-bacterial gels to send over the other day. EVERYTHING HELPS. By the way we have raised $900.00 so far and have a few people who are sending me some checks in the mail that I haven’t included inthat total. More tommorow… I am pretty exhausted!
